Obviously there are 900,000 more than that in ChessBase which are not in ChessOk. The ChessOK database has some games not in ChessBase. This gets you most of the way to ChessBase's 8.4MM, and then you have TWIC. Well, for €39.96 from ChessOk you could buy Aquarium 2021 (useful software) and included is 7.5MM games database, plus 3-months access to Chess King training (also useful for you), plus Lomonsov tablebase access (not so useful). Big Database 2021 lists for €58.74 (8.4MM games, unannotated version of their Mega). Our goal is 100 accuracy and we only publish information about file types that we have verified. Even so I have purchased their Big Database twice in the past, most recently in 2018. The team has independently researched the ChessBase Database file format and Windows apps listed on this page. Here is one free source that has a 2MM correspondence database and a 3.45MM otb database, both reasonably current.ĬhessBase tends to be pricey. Or you could pay once and then do the same update strategy. You could try to find an older one and then download the updates from TWIC. Also the biggest ones I have seen were riddled with duplicates and junk games. I searched for player "keres" opponent "tarve" and it gave me four results.
You can't save it for offline use but you can download individual games. The up-to-date ChessBase database is only $5 on the app store.
